By Visitors to Vegas find it amazing when they are told casino employee’s don’t normally eat their meals at a strip casino when they are off work. Once vacationers are informed Vegas has hundreds of family and corporate owned restaurants to choose from they attempt to visit many of those businesses.
Personally I go out to find good ribs and burgers. In Boulder City there are several restaurants with great meals and an old town charm to walk around before you sit to eat or after you’re finished and need to just relax. All the restaurants are family owned in downtown which gives it that small town appeal. Unfortunately we headed to Fox BBQ as there are television spots on just about everyday, so we thought we would try them. We were disappointed even before walking into the restaurant reading a sign as we approached the door stating they were out of ribs and tri tips as well as a few other items.
The waitress informed us when asked why they did not have ribs when they are a rib house that they were going on vacation and product is gone. Maybe we’ll give this place another try in the future, not to sure yet.
In Henderson, there are hundreds of great places to stop and have a quick meal or just relax and socialize with friends and family over burgers and fries. For quick burgers you can never go wrong with Red Robin and their bottomless fries that accommodate their order.

Amore is a Chicago themed restaurant with Ribs that just melt in your mouth while coming off the bone with no effort on your part. The BBQ flavor has a little spice, sweetness and truly flavorful as the aroma teases your senses wanting you to devour every last bit before you leave for some gaming activities.
Just off 215 and Rainbow we tried Salt and Spoon a family run gourmet eatery. The burger is fantastic with aged Vermont Cheddar topping the patty. As you bite into the burger the flavor oozes through your senses. The staff treat you like gold as they greet you from the moment you open the door and cater to your needs throughout your dining experience.

These are just a few of the restaurants we visit locally. In our next article we’ll give you a few great pizza joints around the valley. Many are family owned that have our taste of approval . We find it tough to locate a pizza which meets our criteria as we may be a bit biased as we owned and operated a pizza joint years ago. Our pizza line was top quality from the BBQ Chicken pie to our Taco pizza which set our standards to the gourmet quality we offered.
Even after 20 some years I still enjoy getting out all the tools needed to prepare my house for family, friends and business acquaintances to experience all those fabulous pies at least once a year. Makes me wonder, should I get back into the arena and bring these pies to the public?
