By I moved to Vegas from Florida many years ago with no regrets. Prior to Florida I spent 8 years or so in Racine Wisconsin. Home to cheese and kringle. Everybody knows Wisconsin is known for it’s variety of cheeses, however many are unaware of the Danish recipe of Kringle. Living in Florida the only way to get it was by a relative or friend picking one or two up and shipping it next day to us. Once I got to Nevada things change as the business grew so did delivery options. Today O & H the best Kringle company in Wisconsin delivers UPS to all continental states as well as having Trader Joe’s as a resource with a flavor available every quarter. This month we found Pumpkin as we shopped there.
A little background on the kringle will help understand just how great this desert is. Heck you could eat it for any meal actually! It is that good, you will crave it on a daily ritual. The company started in 1949 by the Oleson Family. Anton Oleson left Denmark for America to find a way to afford taking care of his family of 6. He settled in Racine where 10% of the Danish immigrants settled by choice. Two years later he brought his son Christian over who opened ) & H Bakery with a partner.
In 1963 he sold the business to his son Ray with his wife and they brought a new edge to the company creating many opportunities for the community as well as their business. The kringle were pretzel shaped in the beginning but as time went on and demand for a variety of flavors were recommended the oval shape of today was born. Now there are an assortment of flavors from the original pecan to pumpkin pie with wild blueberry in the middle of the mix.
