What’s in H.R. 5305 Bill Just Passed in the Senate

You may have heard the Senate passed H.R. 5305 which will keep D.C. open through December 3, 2021 by providing continuous 2022 appropriations. Also in this bill the debt ceiling will be suspended until December 22, 2022 with no limits on spending. Our National Debt ten years ago was 15.566 trillion dollars with dramatic increases each and every year.

          National Debt Continues to Soar

What’s in H.R. 5305? “Sec. 156. Notwithstanding section 101, amounts are provided for “Department of Transportation—Office of the Secretary—Payments to Air Carriers” at a rate for operations of $247,700,000, and such amounts may be apportioned up to the rate for operations necessary to maintain Essential Air Service program operations.”  From Congress.gov

Why is Congress giving air carriers so much money to “maintain essential’ operations? Are airlines the new Big 3 that needs government to bail them out because of mismanagement or because of government mandates that left the whole nation hurting with exception to billion dollar corporations like Amazon, Sams, Krogers, Costco as well as 100’s more leaving Mom and Pops operations closed down as non-essential operatons.

Then we have $40,000,000,000.0  for “Payment to the Legal Services Corporation”  providing necessary expenses relating to floods, hurricanes, wind damages, earthquakes and other disasters.   Funds to remain available until September 30, 2022.

In the very next paragraph the Dept. of Defense will receive funding “For an additional amount for “Operation and Maintenance, Navy”, $565,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2022, for necessary expenses related to the consequences of severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, tornadoes, earthquakes, wildfires, and hurricanes occurring in calendar years 2020 and 2021.” Seems awfully expensive these natural disasters!

Wait, there’s more, page after page we are paying billions for natural disasters.  The Department of Interior page states, “For an additional amount for “Management of Lands and Resources”, $1,192,000, to remain available until expended, for necessary expenses related to the consequences of calendar year 2019, 2020, and 2021 wildfires, hurricanes and other natural disasters”

Few more sections down we have the Department of Agriculture – “For an additional amount for “Forest Service Operations”, $105,000,000, to remain available until expended, for necessary expenses related to the consequences of calendar year 2019, 2020, and 2021 wildfires, hurricanes and other natural disasters.” In addition we will be paying “For an additional amount for “Forest and Rangeland Research”, $25,000,000, to remain available until expended, for necessary expenses related to the consequences of calendar year 2019, 2020, and 2021 wildfires, hurricanes and other natural disasters for the forest inventory and analysis program.”

Followed by the Federal Aviation Administration  facilities and equipment needs,  “For an additional amount for “Facilities and Equipment”, $100,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2024, for necessary expenses related to the consequences of Hurricane Ida.” Moving on to the Federal Highway Administration congress fells emergency relief program needs funding also,  “For an additional amount for the “Emergency Relief Program” as authorized under section 125 of title 23, United States Code, $2,600,000,000, to remain available until expended.”

Are airlines the new Big 3 that needs government to bail them out because of mismanagement or because of government mandates”

What are our public servants thinking as they continue to spend trillions more than they take from the citizens of this great nation.  The revenue generated for the federal government is close to 4 trillion dollars with approximately 50% coming from payroll taxes. Of that 4 trillion, Medicare expenditures consume about 13% of the federal governments spending close to 777 billion dollars last year. In all the federal government has spent a whooping 1.4 trillion dollars on health Medicare and Medicaid at the time of this article.  Our government will pay over 4 trillion dollars in interest payments on our debt this year.

As a nation we must curtail our deficit spending.  Today our debt is 29,000,000,000,000.00 (trillion) with our unfunded mandates exploding currently over 157 trillion dollars.  This spending from those who are elected to represent our best interests do not as they spend, spend, spend knowing it is not their money.
